So, 60 Years Ago

so, folks, 60 years ago, starting on september 1st, i believe, we, local witnesses in southern california, had the "privilege" of attending the "around the world assembly", at, of all places, the rose bowl, in pasadena.

(i think that it was an 8-day assembly) i was 9 years old then, almost ready to start 4th grade.

so, was anyone else, on this site, at that assembly?

I had to memorize a three scripture sermon to offer that book door to door. At eight years old.

Ah, 3 - 4 scriptures, 10 -15 min Doorstep Sermon. Today's 30 hour "pioneers" and trolley minders haven't got a clue.

I remember the old Babylon book well.

I actually managed to place a copy one Sunday morning. I went back the following week and guess what, the guy had not read it! I never did return after that, I wonder how far he got with it.

We studied it at the group, I was the Group Study Servant and found it so difficult to make it interesting. As stated above, there was a question booklet but we had to make up our own review questions for the end of the study. My old dad used to copy my review questions for his group!

Greenlees, Chapman and Chitty

so after being rudely awakened by a cat fight outside (it's 3am here in the uk) and then proceeding to go outside to rescue my cats from the neighbourhood tom....... i'm now laying wide awake trying to make sense of jw "truth".

(it's all my mind does these days, the lights gone on and won't turn off).

If they're removing AMIII, they are taking their time about it. Go on to the JW website and enter Anthony Morris into the video search box. There are over 30 videos of him and that's just the first page.

We are six months down the line, by now one would have thought he would have been just a memory.

Here in the UK when the congregation's assets pass 3 months expenditure we have to send the surplus to the WT Society.

This new cash grab of £5.40/pub/month cannot be funded from what we receive each month. The only purpose of it is to guilt people into thinking "i must put in my £5.40 each month".

As a congregation we barely cover expenses in a normal month.

Annual Meeting 2023

i can't seem to find the meeting dates anywhere online.

anyone know when it will be or how i can find out?.

Usually the first Saturday in October. Preceded by the "Members Meeting".

You need to have an invitation.

For the new donation arrangement, here in the UK it is £5.40/pub/month.

So for 139,000 publishers that's over £9 million/year. Extrapolate that world wide.

They are still banging on about HE in the August broadcast. Usual scene, lovely looking young female witness being encouraged to go to Uni by a teacher. She is of course the best student in the school, easily get a scholarship ...... Sorry, I don't want to spoil this for anyone planning to watch it!

The other teen is a guy who is fancied by the best looking girl.... well you know the score. He has to break it off.

Why was it that when I was at school the best lookers never fancied me? Possibly because I was a bit of a 50/60's yob.
